We were thrilled to welcome future kindergarten students and their families to our "Welcome to Kindergarten" evening! It was wonderful to meet families from the Lake Bonavista and Mahogany communities and share a glimpse of the exciting learning experiences awaiting students in September. A special highlight of the evening was seeing many of our current kindergarten students proudly show younger siblings and new students around the classroom. Their excitement, confidence, and sense of belonging were truly heartwarming. Families had the opportunity to explore the classroom, meet staff, and begin building familiarity with their new school community. These early connections help support a positive and successful transition to kindergarten. A special thank you to Ms. Kaiser, Ms. Bauman, Mrs. Dupuis, Mrs. Machnee, Mrs. Odegard, and Mrs. Gordon for their coordination, support, and commitment to helping make the evening such a welcoming and successful experience for our families. We look forward to welcoming our newest learners to Andrew Sibbald School and beginning an exciting year of learning, growth, friendship, and discovery together!
Learning and joy were experienced by all this week as students participated in the Calgary Flames Foundation Classroom Crew Program! Through this exciting partnership with the Calgary Board of Education and the Calgary Flames Foundation, students explored ball hockey and flag football while building movement skills, teamwork, confidence, and positive sportsmanship.
During these engaging sessions, students practiced:
- Moving safely during games and activities
- Working cooperatively with their classmates
- Demonstrating kindness, teamwork, and inclusion
- Listening to instructions and encouraging others
- Building confidence by trying new physical activities
These experiences supported student growth in wellness, physical literacy, communication, and citizenship while helping students discover the joy of active play with their classmates. Thank you to our fabulous instructors and to Mr. B for organizing this for Andrew Sibbald School.
Have a wonderful weekend!
