Easter Learning in Kindergarten

We have been busy exploring Easter through playful, hands-on learning experiences that connect to the Alberta Kindergarten curriculum. Through art, math, literacy, and sensory exploration, students are building important skills while having fun and making meaningful connections. Some learning tasks to try at home have been included below.

Here are some of the ways we’ve been learning:

Easter Math Explorations
Students engaged in counting, sorting, and representing numbers using eggs, baskets, and spring-themed materials.
I can…

  • I can count objects and tell how many there are.

  • I can show numbers in different ways (fingers, drawings, objects).

  • I can sort and group objects by colour, size, or type

Literacy & Writing
Through visual journals and storytelling, students created Easter-themed drawings and added labels and sounds to share their ideas.

I can…
  • I can share my ideas through pictures and words.
  • I can use letters and sounds to label my drawings.

  • I can talk about my thinking with others.

Inquiry & Exploration (Science + Senses)
Students explored textures, colours, and materials through Easter sensory activities (e.g., eggs and spring items).
I can…

  • I can use my senses to explore and describe objects.

  • I can notice how things look, feel, and sound.

  • I can ask questions about what I see and explore.

Creative Expression
Students used their creativity to express ideas and feelings.
I can…

  • I can create using different materials.

  • I can share my ideas through art.

  • I can try new ways to make and build.

Wellness & Community
Through collaborative games and activities, students practiced kindness, sharing, and working together.
I can…

  • I can take turns and work with others.

  • I can show kindness to my classmates.

  • I can try my best, even when something feels tricky.

These joyful Easter experiences support learning across all areas while helping students grow as confident learners, thinkers, and community members.

Students also explored emotional awareness by using feeling circles as a visual support to identify and represent their emotions. They recorded these emotions in their visual journals, demonstrating their ability to recognize and express feelings through pictures.

Have a wonderful weekend!
