Hello Families,
We have had another exploratory week in kindergarten!
Dino Adventure
We had an exciting in-school field trip where our classroom was transformed into a hands-on dinosaur learning experience! Students became junior scientists as they explored the world of paleontology and discovered how we can use our five senses to learn about the properties of objects.
Our day began with a whole-group introduction from "Dr. Dino," who taught us what paleontologists do and shared a fascinating true story about the very first paleontologist. The students were immediately engaged and ready to explore!
Throughout the experience, students rotated through several interactive learning tasks:
- Students used their sense of sight and touch to explore and sort dinosaur eggs by how they looked and felt.
- Using their sense of hearing, students listened carefully and tried to match sounds without using their eyes... what great listening skills!
- We took a fun movement break and showed off our best dinosaur moves!
- The highlight of the day! Students became paleontologists as they excavated their very own dinosaur to take home.
To wrap up, students reflected on their learning and shared how they can use their five senses to describe and understand the world around them. It was wonderful to see their curiosity, excitement, and growing scientific thinking!
A big thank you to all of our volunteers who joined us and supported the students throughout this experience. Your time and help made this day run smoothly and allowed students to fully engage in their learning. We truly appreciate you!
Have a wonderful weekend!
