Trickster Theatre Brings Community to Life
We were thrilled to welcome Trickster Theatre into our kindergarten classroom for a joyful and meaningful theatre experience. This year’s performance explored the idea of community, taking students on an imaginative journey to Nova Scotia through music, storytelling, and movement.
Learning Through the Arts
Well-being & Belonging
- Students explored what makes a community strong, including helping others, sharing stories, and working together.
Communication and Literacy
- Through drama and storytelling, students practiced listening, expressing ideas, and building vocabulary connected to people and places.
Citizenship and Identity
- Learning about Nova Scotia helped students see that communities can look different across Canada while still sharing common values like kindness and connection.
Creativity and Play
- Drama encourages imagination, collaboration, and confidence, which are essential foundations for early learning.
Building a Sense of Community
Throughout the performance, students saw how communities are shaped by:
Traditions and celebrations
Land and geography
Shared experiences and cooperation
By exploring Nova Scotia’s coastal culture, students discovered that even though it is far from Alberta, we are all connected as part of a larger Canadian community.
A Huge Thank You
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to:
The incredible Trickster Theatre staff for their energy, creativity, and passion for working with young learners.
Our kindergarten families who participated and attended. Your support makes experiences like this even more meaningful for students.
The volunteers and organizers who helped make this opportunity possible. Your time and care truly enrich our school community.
Mrs. Odegard for all of her leadership and organization!
Experiences like this remind us that learning does not only happen at desks. It comes alive through storytelling, collaboration, and shared joy. We are so grateful to have been part of this memorable celebration of community.
We look forward to many more moments where learning, creativity, and connection come together.
Have a great weekend!
